About Me

Allison has been a community organizer with the Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition (NWBCCC) for six years. During this time she has worked with an array of schools, churches, and community-based organizations to train and organize with their members to run strategic campaigns to improve schools, housing, health and community-based development. Presently, she coordinates the organization’s Economic Democracy work to enact a comprehensive organizational platform for economic development to generate shared wealth and democratic decision-making power for Bronx residents. She has coordinated the Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance to implement a precedent-setting Community Benefits Agreement for living wage jobs, local procurement and hiring, community space, and a green action plan at the Kingsbridge National Ice Center.  She coordinates Building Power in partnership with BlocPower, MIT CoLab, and the Emerald Cities Collaborative to implement energy savings retrofits in local houses of worship while employing Bronx residents and cultivating local contractors. She worked with Community Catalyst to develop and execute trainings for Bronx residents on social determinants of health and the Affordable Care Act in order to develop strategies to direct hospital Community Health Needs Assessments and Community Benefit investment to promote health equity.

Previously, she has worked with parents and youth from Bronx schools to achieve school facilities improvements, new school construction, the prevention of school closures, and the passage of legislation to mandate the NYC Department of Education to inform parents and staff of environmental hazards discovered in schools. She organized Bronx parents in coalition with the NYSNA, Doctors Council, and various health advocates to restore and expand an award-winning Labor & Delivery Unit and midwifery program to the North Central Bronx Hospital. She has coordinated the organization’s Community Leadership Academy, which provides ongoing training in political education and organizing skills to prepare the next generation of community leaders to enact change in the community and carry forward a vision for the organization
